High-end real-time product visualization in Unity HDRP, a lounge chair presented through a flexible, multi-finish material system

About the Project

This project explores high-end product visualization using Unity HDRP, showcasing how real-time rendering can achieve the level of quality traditionally associated with offline rendering. Working from a chair model provided by Unity Technologies, I developed the surrounding environment, authored custom materials, created shaders, and built a lighting workflow focused on realism, material accuracy, and visual storytelling. Every design decision was made to present the furniture naturally while emphasizing craftsmanship, texture, and form.

The production pipeline combined Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, and Unity HDRP. I created the environment assets, authored physically based materials, developed procedural textures, built custom shaders using Shader Graph, and assembled the complete scene for real-time visualization. Special attention was given to how lighting, shaders, and materials interacted, ensuring that wood grain, brushed metals, fabrics, leather, and woven textiles responded realistically under varying lighting conditions while preserving fine surface detail.

Using Unity's High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP), I developed a lighting solution that balances soft global illumination, realistic reflections, physically based materials, and custom shader workflows to create a premium visualization experience. Multiple material variations were explored, demonstrating a flexible and reusable material system capable of supporting different product finishes while maintaining consistent visual quality and performance.

This project demonstrates how modern real-time technologies can be leveraged to create production-quality product visualizations suitable for interactive design reviews, digital showrooms, product configurators, and marketing presentations. It highlights the complete real-time workflow, from environment creation and material authoring to shader development, lighting, and final presentation, bridging the gap between traditional offline rendering and interactive experiences.
