A flagship Unity HDRP product visualization of a skid loader — a stylized 2.5D scene blending real-time geometry with a high-resolution photographic backdrop

About the Project

This flagship HDRP project was one of my first major projects at Unity. Unity provided the skid loader model, while Shadow and Light Studios in Paris developed the materials and shaders specifically for the vehicle.

My role was to create the surrounding environment, establish the visual direction, and build the complete real-time lighting and rendering setup. I used Maya to model and assemble the environmental elements, while Photoshop and Illustrator supported the creation and refinement of the photographic backdrop and supporting visual assets. Substance 3D Painter and Substance 3D Designer were used to develop the textures and materials for the environment.

Inside Unity HDRP, I created a stylized 2.5D presentation by combining the environmental geometry with a high-resolution photographic backdrop. I then used real-time lighting, reflection probes, and carefully balanced scene settings to integrate the skid loader naturally into the environment and achieve a polished, cinematic result.

The project demonstrated how HDRP could be used to produce high-quality product visualization while preserving the flexibility and interactivity of real-time rendering.

Pipeline & Workflow
