Halo Pegasus TVC

A licensed Mega Bloks Halo TV spot, the canon Pegasus rebuilt block by block

About the Project

This project was created as a 10-second cinematic TV spot featuring the Halo Pegasus, a canon vehicle within the Halo universe reinterpreted through Megabloks / Mattel's physical toy design language. The sequence begins with original Halo gameplay footage, grounding the viewer in the established universe before transitioning into a stylized block-based reinterpretation of the Pegasus itself.

The Pegasus is a real Halo vehicle, and this version represents its physical toy translation, designed by Mattel as part of the Megabloks Halo line. The goal was to bridge these two worlds: in-engine sci-fi realism and tangible, constructed toy aesthetics.

The transition into the blockified sequence is intentionally structured around the idea of construction as storytelling. The vehicle does not simply appear fully formed, it assembles visually through its material logic, as if it is being built piece by piece, echoing the physical nature of the toy system it originates from.

My role covered the full CG production pipeline. I worked from existing industrial design files provided by Mattel, using them as the base for the 3D production. From there, I handled animation setup and execution, material and shader development, texturing, lighting, and final rendering using Arnold. A key focus was preserving the mechanical weight and design language of the original toy while elevating it into a cinematic advertising asset.

The final composition was brought together in After Effects, where the rendered passes were integrated, graded, and layered to enhance the transition between gameplay footage and the constructed toy world.

Sound design and final audio assembly were completed in Adobe Audition, adding the final layer of cinematic weight and immersion to the sequence.

What defines this piece is the idea of modular assembly translated into motion, where the ship feels like it is built through visual logic, reinforcing its identity as both a Halo vehicle and a physical Megabloks construct.

The voice-over and audio direction were provided by Megabloks / Mattel as part of the licensed campaign pipeline.

Disclaimer: This project was produced as part of a licensed commercial campaign involving Mattel (Mega Bloks) Halo products. The Pegasus is a Halo IP vehicle reinterpreted as a physical toy by Mattel designers. All original Halo IP, branding, and audio assets remain property of their respective rights holders. This breakdown reflects my personal contribution including animation, shading, lighting, rendering, compositing, and final audio assembly executed on the TV spot.
